Students in grades 6 – 8 who meet the extracurricular activities requirements may join and participate in the Academic Decathlon. This year our 5th grade students joined Decathlon for a "practice year" as they prepare to compete next year. The Academic Junior High Decathlon for Catholic Schools is held annually on a Saturday in March. The competition includes two team events and eight individual events. A team of ten students representing the school is chosen from among those who practice for the competition. All teachers participate as coaches to prepare students. Practices may take place after school or on Saturdays, as determined by the coaches. The Academic Decathlon team participation is contingent upon the provision of a moderator and coaches.
Decathlon allows students to improve with their logic, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. A prestigious activity that prepares students for the rigors of high school and college readiness, this activity is highly appreciated at the high school level.
We are proud of all of our students who participated in Decathlon this year. Jasmine Reyes (8th grade) placed 7th in Fine Arts! Way to Go!
