Mrs. Lisa Derleth
Third Grade - Welcome Letter
I would like to give a warm welcome to all the Third Grade Students and their families!!!
My name is Mrs. Lisa Derleth, and it is my honor and privilege to be the Third Grade Teacher at St. John of God School for the 2016 – 2017 School Year.
I am married, and have 3 children. Since receiving my Bachelor’s Degree and California Teaching Credential from Mount Saint Mary’s College, I have been teaching in Catholic Schools for 25 years. I truly believe in the value of a Catholic Education. I am a product of Catholic Schools myself, and my years of Catholic Education truly helped to shape me into the person I am today. My children, in fact, are fourth generation Catholic School students. [My paternal grandmother attended Catholic college, and both of my parents attended Catholic Schools.]
In addition to teaching in the classroom, I am honored to direct the School Choir and to lead the students in singing during our school-wide Liturgical celebrations. I am also honored to lead music at our parish Sunday masses at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., along with my husband. We are called to discover our gifts and share them with the Church; teaching and music are two of the greatest gifts God has given me, and I have devoted my life to sharing these gifts with the family of God.
I am excited to work together with you to provide your children with a fantastic year of learning, discovering and growing. The Third Grade students show their growth and maturity by moving upstairs [yea!] and by receiving letter grades
[A, B, C] on their report cards for the first time. They also will receive the gift of a Rosary. We say the Rosary on occasion throughout the school year, and this Rosary will travel with them as the students progress to the next grade.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that may come up during the school year. Together, we will make this a wonderful year for your child. Welcome to Third Grade at St. John of God School!
