School Accreditation

St. John of God Catholic School is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA).  WCEA accredits Catholic elementary and secondary schools in nine Western states (26 arch-dioceses) and the US Territory of Guam.  WCEA co-accredits and is in partnership with three Regional agencies (WASC, NAAS, NCA CASI) and two private agencies (CAIS and HAIS).  WCEA began in 1957 in San Francisco and has a long and successful history of assisting school improvement through the accreditation process.

Faith
St. John of God Students will:
a. celebrate Mass together.
b. learn about Jesus and the prayers of the church.
c. listen to Bible stories and stories about saints.
d. talk and listen to Jesus.
e. respect all of God’s creation.

Personal Development
St. John of God Students will:
a. make good choices.
b. be good listeners and follow directions.
c. use good manners.
d. share their gifts and talents with others.

Knowledge
St. John of God Students will:
a. learn to read and write well.
b. find solutions to problems in math and other subjects.
c. use the computer to learn new skills.
d. speak clearly and correctly.

 


Regular (5th grade and up)

Faith
St. John of God Students will:
a. be made aware that the liturgy is the cornerstone of the Catholic Faith.
b. become familiar with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the traditional prayers of the Church.
c. develop a working knowledge of the Bible, church history and lives of the saints.
d. be taught the importance of living an active, prayerful Christian life.
e. respect life and all of God’s creations.

Personal Development
St. John of God Students will:
a. become model citizens by learning to take responsibility for their actions.
b. develop good study habits, test-taking skills and become independent thinkers.
c. show respect for self and others.
d. share their gifts and talents with the community.

Knowledge
St. John of God Students will:
a. master the basic skills in all areas of the curriculum to the best of their ability.
b. learn the use of logic and critical thinking to solve problems.
c. use computer technology to enhance work in all subjects.
