Discipline Plan
Discipline in St. John of God School is considered an aspect of moral guidance and not a form of punishment. The purpose of discipline is: to promote character training, to increase respect for duly constituted authority, to assist the growth of self-discipline, and to provide a classroom situation conducive to learning. Discipline is said to be maintained in classroom or school when pupils work cooperatively with principal, teachers, staff members, and companions toward attainment of class and school objectives. Therefore, anyone who does not adhere to the regulations deemed necessary for a good learning situation and an orderly atmosphere is acting in a manner detrimental to the welfare of the other children. Teachers and supervisors will take the means necessary and reasonable to correct the situation and will make the parents aware of a recurrent problem. In addition to individual classroom rules and consequences, the All-School Discipline Plan will be followed:
ALL- SCHOOL DISCIPLINE PLAN
- First Detention: Half Hour
- Second Detention: Half Hour
- Third Detention: One Hour
- Fourth Detention: One Hour and Parent-Teacher Conference
- Fifth Detention: Parent-Teacher- Administrator Conference –
An individual plan of action will be discussed.
